Sinikiwe Mqadi is currently working for Grow Great, a campaign seeking to galvanise South Africa towards achieving zero stunting by 2030. At Grow Great, she is a Flourish coach. She holds a BA degree from Rhodes University (2011) and BA Honours in Journalism and Media Studies from Wits University (2015), as a Mandela Rhodes Scholar. Upon completing her BA at Rhodes, she went back to her community, Phungashe in KwaZulu Natal, where she coordinated the Family Maths project; a project designed to train local youths to teach parents – whether or not they had been to school – to help their children to learn maths. Through Family Maths, together with the team, she was introduced to a leadership-training programme and network of young activists from across South Africa called Activate! Via the Activate! network, she has been inspired by young people across the country who are not only defining the future they want for South Africa, but also undertaking the responsibility to create that future. She has worked for Radio 702 as a digital content producer for about 2 years. When she became aware of nutritional stunting, and the impact that stunting has on our children, our society and our country, she knew that Flourish would allow her to combine her skills, experiences and passion. Sinikiwe has been with Grow Great since 2017.
